今、陸上100mにおいて最も9秒台に近い日本人はドームのケンブリッジ飛鳥、セイコーの山縣亮太、そして桐生祥秀の３選手と言われています。
そして、その中の東洋大学の桐生選手が、21日にオーストラリアで行っていた合宿から帰国しました。
その合宿中に100mのレースに参加し、今シーズン初戦ながらも好記録を叩き出しました。
記録は10秒04。
まだ春を迎えていないにもかかわらず、100m秒０0台を出せることに僕は驚いています。
別に上から目線というわけではなく、陸上競技好きの僕からみると、成長している感じがするのです。
桐生選手、9秒台の条件である秒速11.6mを超える
桐生選手を高校生の頃から見ていますが、桐生選手は大学進学を機に様々な経験をしてきました。
特に海外のレースに積極的に参加したりと、日本を飛び出し海外への経験を重視する傾向にあることがわかります。
「日本でやってたら、世界には通用しない」そう考えているのだと感じます。
その経験が功を奏してか、東洋大学に進学してからというもの、追い風参考ながら海外の100mのレースで9秒87をマークしたり、学生個人選手権で10秒01を出したりと、好記録が続いている状況です。
そして桐生選手自身でも、昔より足が速くなっているという実感があるようです。
今回のオーストラリアでのレース終了後に答えたインタビューで「後半のスピードが上がっている」というコメントをを残しています。シーズン初戦でこの記録は上出来という感覚でしょうか。
また、数字でも桐生選手の走力が向上しているとされる証拠があります。
なんと、オーストラリアの試合で出場した100mの最高速度が秒速11.7mだったというのです。これは9秒台で走るための条件でもあります。
日本陸連科学委員会の松尾彰文委員によると、9秒台で走るための最高速度の条件が「秒速11.6m」だといいます。
先ほども述べましたが、シーズン初戦でこの速さは今年中に9秒台に突入するのではないかと期待させますね。
